Varanasi
Iconic Riverfront of the Historic City of Varanasi is part of the Tentative list of India in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Iconic Riverfront of the Historic City of Varanasi comprises the 84 ghats and other notable buildings and alleys along the River Ganga. The ghats, steps leading to the river bank, were all built during different ages. Since the 12th century the Varanasi Riverfront has become one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites.
