The Astronomical Observatories of Kazan Federal University are two properties that show the transformation from classical astronomy to modern astrophysics. The Observatory of Kazan Imperial University (19th century) is located in the historical center of Kazan, while the Engelhardt Astronomical Observatory (1901) lies in the countryside. The latter was especially designed for large-scale observations and studies under the conditions most suitable for night observations.
