Gedeo Cultural Landscape
Gedeo Cultural Landscape is part of the Tentative list of Ethiopia in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Gedeo Cultural Landscape comprises a locally adopted agroforestry system, megalithic monuments, rock art sites and ritual forests, created by the Gedeo people. They grow enset (a plant that provides the staple, a kind of flatbread, for southwestern Ethiopia) and coffee. The landscape – at between 1,000m and 3,200m altitude - has rich volcanic soil.
