Neither Luther's birthplace nor his place of death are genuine monuments, so there was a need to present genuine buildings which have a real connection to Luther. He was baptised in St. Anne's Church and he held his last sermon in St. Andrew's church. Both churches urgently need funds for conservation, they are kept open with volunteering guards because of public interest from World heritage visitors. The pulpit of Luther's last sermon looks like many other pulpits, however it is threatened by timber worms and needs to be refurbished. Each site is equipped with donation boxes. The house of Luther's parents, located in Mansfeld, still has one third of its original size, but no preserved furniture. The museum, which gives an overview about medieval nutrition of Luther's family, is rarely visited due to its remote location (buses are running every two hours). The nomination is a great opportunity to redirect public funds and tourist spendings into a remote area suffering from unemployment.Community Likes
