Turks and Caicos Islands

.

Turks and Caicos Islands is part of the Tentative list of United Kingdom in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

These two groups of islands in the western North Atlantic, between Cuba and Florida are extremely hot and dry, leading to a high number of endemic species of reptiles, insects and plants, which demonstrate genetic differences between the different islands. The islands are one of the most important sites for seabirds in the Caribbean and also host wetland sites of international importance comprising marine and coastal habitats. The network of salt cays provide a rich habitat for many unique species and are seen as an underrepresented eco system on the world heritage list.
