Dahab

Dahab is part of the Tentative list of Egypt in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

North of the modern town of Dahab remains have been found of an ancient port and a lighthouse. The port dates from the Nabatean period.

I visited this laid back tentative WHS as a relaxed stopover site on the way to St Catherine. Camel rides on the beach at sunset are available and snorkeling and diving in the Red Sea are superb (the blue hole is quite a sight).
