Sümela Monastery (The Monastery of Virgin Mary) is part of the Tentative list of Türkiye in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Sümela Monastery is a Greek Orthodox monastic complex built into a steep cliff. Its origins lie in the 4th century, but it has been rebuilt and altered many times since. The inner and outer walls of the Rock Church and the walls of the adjacent chapel are decorated with frescoes of biblical scenes. The complex also holds its own aqueduct, several chapels, kitchens, student rooms, a guesthouse, a library, and a sacred spring.
